How to choose power supply for CCTV system?
Choosing the right power supply for your CCTV security system is critical and might be the difference between working or malfunctioning one.
But how to choose the right power supply for the cameras?
For that you`ll need to know how many cameras will be installed, what kind (IP or analog). If you`re planning to use Turbo HD, CVBS ot HD-CVI cameras you can use power adapter or distribution box. The truth is there is no difference between them except the size and the number of cameras they can power. For example if you have 2-4 cameras then the easiest way is to go for power adapter 12V, 2 or 3A and power splitter 1 to 4. But if the installation involves more cameras then it will be smarter to use distribution box.
If your security system is IP based then you have to think about PoE adapter or PoE switch for your cameras.
Users should avoid to use centralized or one power supply source.

1) When turn on/off power supply to repair video camera system. All security cameras start to boot, the required boot current is huge, this will has great impact to power supply, may lead to damage the power supply.
2) If all the security cameras use a single power supply. Once the power supply encounters problem, the whole video security cameras will turn off. Especially for some important entry-points where you can't monitor.
