The thieves followed the pensioner,  spotted her PIN code while she withdrew money from the ATM. Later they swiped her purse and make off with £2 000.

The woman had been out shopping. Just before that she had withdrawn cash from Barclays ban in The Forum. Police believe that the thieves watched her enter her pin number and then followed her along Queensway. They took their time waiting for the moment the pensioner wasn`t looking and took her purse.

They then went and withdrew £2,000 from the cashpoint she had used only minutes earlier.

The theft took place around 11.15am last Wednesday. The police released images from the security cameras of the suspected criminals and want to speak to them in connection with the theft.

The police advice is people to be careful, to use handbag with proper closing, and to keep phones/wallet attached to their bag with purse lanyard.
